Irina Fedorenko (Russia, DPhil Geography and Environment, 2014-17,
Weidenfeld-Hoffmann) and her BioCarbon Engineering team recently led
an expedition by Quadro-copters into Myanmar. Responding to an urgent
degradation of Mangrove forests in Myanmar’s Ayerwaddy Delta, Irina
and her team are using drones outfitted with the capacity to fire 5,000
seeds an hour in a bid to restore the forest which is vital for mitigating the impacts of climate change and extreme weather events including cyclones.
