Abigail’s original pro bono project was to provide reusable sanitary pads for schoolgirls in Masvingo Province. A study in 2013 found that 72% of girls in the province did not use pads, with the effect of decreasing their school attendance rate and even causing them to drop out of school. With the help of Uganda-based NGO AfriPad, she visited Rambamai School to donate the pads and train girls on how to use them. When she arrived, she realised that the problems faced by the girls were even bigger than she had imagined, with many of them lacking even underwear. Abigail has prolonged her stay at the school to arrange additional donations of clothes for the girls to enable them to continue their education.
