Passionate about nature and conservation, Andrei graduated with an MSc in Environmental Change and Management in 2014. He also holds an MSc in Environment Protection and Quality Evaluation and a BSc in Environmental Science from Oradea University, Romania.
He has worked from an early age for the conservation and protection of the environment in Romania, joining the NGO Ecotop Oradea at 17 and forming an Environmental Guard team for the Padis karst plateaux, which was then declared a National Park. Becoming Ecotop’s President in 2009, he forged links with other NGOs and environmental agencies including the WWF and The Ecotourism Association of Romania.
In 2012, he became the manager of the Padurea Craiului Nature 2000 site, one of the first examples of conservation funded through green business and ecotourism in Romania. Andrei-Robert has raised over 900,000 Euros for eco-projects throughout Romania in grants and is working on a project funded by the EU to develop a management plan for protected areas.
He hopes to become a national leader in environmental protection to help shape his home country’s conservation policy.
