Prior to beginning his studies at Oxford, Farid was a full-time lecturer at the Faculty of International Law at Baku State University. He has Master’s degrees in International Human Rights Law from the University of Essex and in International Legal Studies from Baku State University. He has also spent a number of years as a legal advisor to both the Parliament and the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan.
He finished his DPhil in Law at Oxford (2011) with the objective of playing a ‘significant role in Azerbaijan by introducing fundamental reforms to the judiciary and instilling the rule of law’. Moreover, Farid aims to use the opportunities provided by the Programme to enhance his pre-existing professional network in order to locate Azerbaijan as a prominent regional actor.
He is currently a tutor in Public International Law at the Foreign Service Programme, University of Oxford.
