Melissa is a development professional from Peru with a focus on rural development. She holds a bachelor's degree in Social Management from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. She has over five years of experience in project planning, monitoring, and evaluation, and mainstreaming the gender approach in sustainable agriculture, forest conservation and climate change adaptation projects. Melissa is a Corporate Business Officer at Practical Action Latin America, where she drives the private sector engagement strategy. Her work involves building alliances with companies on the cocoa and coffee value chains to implement projects for the benefit of smallholder farmers in the Peruvian Amazon. Upon her return to Peru, she plans to pursue a career working to enhance sustainable local businesses to reduce biodiversity and forest loss.
