Julia is a Brazilian journalist. In the past 16 years she has worked for O Globo, one of Brazil’s main papers, for the Deutsche Welle, in Germany, and as the BBC’s correspondent in Rio. Over almost a decade she covered the main events in her country for the BBC, including mass demonstrations, the World Cup and Olympics and a presidential impeachment. After Oxford, she intends to return to her career in journalism and contribute positively to public debate on Brazil’s deep inequality, human rights violations, environmental issues and public policies.
