Luisa is a Colombian free speech attorney, researcher, and activist currently a DPhil candidate at the University of Groningen. Prior to this she worked at the Foundation for a Free Press in Colombia. Before Oxford, Luisa spent six years defending and promoting freedom of expression in Colombia from multiple angles: from journalist protection and the fight against impunity in the crimes against the press, to online free speech and the right to access public information. Luisa has worked at Colombian NGOs and has been a consultant for international organisations focused on free speech. She studied law at the Pontifical Xavierian University in Bogotá, where she also taught Law and Journalism. She is interested in creating and advancing public policies that support free speech, both online and offline, in Latin America and in raising awareness among citizens of the importance of journalism for democracies.
