Sarani is currently working as a Digital Economy Consultant, supporting Sri Lanka’s Chief Advisor to the President on the Digital Economy and the Ministry of Digital Economy through a United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) secondment. Her work focuses on digital transformation policy, institutional development, strategic partnerships, and the planning and implementation of national digital initiatives.

Sarani holds a BA in Government from Harvard College. She worked for a year for Sri Lanka’s State Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs, during which time she co-led the writing of the state’s economic policy Outlook Vision 2025.

She was previously a Strategic Transformation Executive for MAS Holdings, one of South Asia’s largest apparel manufacturers. She has also worked as the Grants and Partnerships Manager of the MAS Foundation for Change, a non-profit organisation tackling the social and environmental challenges faced due to biodiversity loss, ocean pollution, and lack of access to clean water.

Sarani is based in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
