Asaf leads the research on global food security at CSER, University of Cambridge. He is also an Academic Staff at the Cambridge Global Food Security Center and the Cambridge Center for Science and Policy. His research explores dependencies, distortions and risks in food systems, and develops strategies for the mitigation of these risks with emerging technologies. Asaf completed his post-doctoral work on extreme environmental risks at Cambridge.
He wrote his doctoral research at UCL Faculty of Engineering Sciences, STEaPP, where he was also a lab researcher for urban innovation. He was a research scholar at Columbia University. He is a graduate of the WSPM Program, SoGE, at the University of Oxford, Balliol College, where he was a Weidenfeld Scholar.
He was Chief Strategist of the Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection, where he pioneered the use of well-being indicators, total capital management, innovation, and behavioural sciences in national policymaking.
