Benjamin graduated with an MSc in History of Science, Medicine & Technology from Oxford in 2013. Prior to this, he graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Evolutionary Biology in 2011, where his studies emphasised on evolutionary theory and its impact on contemporary society.
Interested in eugenics and the public perception of medical research since the rise of bioethics in the 20th century, he went on to conduct field research with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Botswana in 2011-12. Within that framework, he collected data on the cultural perception of the Batswana towards medical research. Using his degree and skills developed through the Scholarships and Leadership Programme, Benjamin wishes to shape the future of medicine by learning from its history.
He is currently an MD candidate at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. He expects to graduate in 2017.
