Claudio was born and raised in Mexico City. After completing an undergraduate degree in economics at Harvard University (2013), Claudio worked as a management consultant for McKinsey and Company before moving into the world of journalism.

After a year at Fusion, a news start-up based in Miami, Claudio returned to Mexico in early 2016 to work as an investigative journalist at Mexicanos Against Corruption and Impunity, a Mexico City based NGO.
