Interested in equitable management and development of water resources, Ida is studying for an MSc in Water Science, Policy & Management.
Previously, she has worked as a Project Coordinator for the Global Environment and Technology Foundation (GETF) in Virginia, US, where she engaged in the Replenish Africa Initiative – a Coca-Cola company project to provide two million people in Africa with access to safe drinking water by 2015.
She graduated from the North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering (2013) and from Meredith College with a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry (2013). Previously, Ida interned as a Research Analyst at the Equity Group Foundation (EGF) in Nairobi, where she was first exposed to the dire water situation in Kenya.
Currently she is working as the EED Advisor (Senior Advisory), Kenya. She believes that safe, affordable, and accessible water MUST not be a luxury of the few. She believes that every human (and Kenyan while at it) should have access to water within their household, a belief that drives my career. Ida is a WASH specialist with vast experience conducting water access studies across Kenya and Somalia. These have ranged from conducting assessments at the utility level (e.g. Mombasa, Homa Bay and Nanyuki utilities) to traveling to the more remote parts of Kenya including Wajir, Turkana, Marsabit and Isiolo.
