Kai graduated from the University of the West Indies with a Bachelor of Laws. Kai is strongly committed to addressing the social inequities in his country and the Caribbean. Locally, he has spearheaded many initiatives including a male mentorship programme aimed at reducing the gender disparity in higher level education in Jamaica. He recently executed a personal outreach initiative providing care packages to over 100 persons in low income communities who were severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Regionally, as Student Union President, Kai was able to successfully advocate for improved infrastructure, amenities and more student-friendly policies for youth across the Caribbean. He also served on many University committees, including the Task Force to establish a new University campus in Antigua. As Chairman of the Youth Advisory Council of Jamaica, he currently advises the Government on the youth’s perspective on policy and legislation. Kai is determined to use his Oxford experience to enhance the lives of his fellow Jamaicans by helping the country to achieve and sustain robust economic growth through legislative and policy changes.
