Lauren graduated with an MSc in Refugee & Forced Migration Studies from Oxford in 2013. In 2012, she received a first-class double major in International Relations and Neuroscience from the University of Southern California, having developed a strong focus on health and human rights issues, particularly those affecting women in displaced populations.
Her interests not only stem from voluntary community work, but also from a field research trip to Cambodia in 2009, where she learnt first-hand about the results of human trafficking and sex industries in a conflict-torn society. In 2010, she co-founded the non-profit organisation ‘She Shall Go Free’ working to raise awareness of issues such as human trafficking and exploitation of labour. Lauren seeks to change public perceptions of human rights and gender issues.
Her MSc at Oxford has provided her with the theoretical knowledge to grasp and address dynamics underlying detrimental developments in displaced populations.
