Ling has just completed a MA in Educational Leadership from UCL with a distinction. Before studying at UCL, she had been working in one of the largest education groups in China for 11 years and progressed from a teacher to an assistant principal. As a female school leader, Ling dedicated herself to addressing the perceived motherhood penalty encountered by female teachers with children and built her school into the most mother-friendly organization in the city. By conducting a large-scale quantitative study in China, she interrogated the resonance and discrepancy of leadership styles between western schools and schools in China, and proposed facilitative leadership as a contextualized leadership style for schools in China, which provides a valuable reference for Chinese school leaders.
