Maria Barron Rodriguez is currently a Research Analyst at the World Bank Group's Global Education Practice, where she is a member of the EdTech global team. She has more than seven years of experience working in the design, implementation, and evaluation of education policies at the national and international levels. Before taking up her current position, she worked as a researcher for the Research Improving Systems of Education (RISE) at the University of Oxford, and in the education team of the UK Department for International Development (DFID). In addition, she has had practical experience in the implementation of innovation programs for development NGOs, in the Ministry of Production and the Ministry of Education in Peru. For the latter, she developed and led a mobile text messaging project to provide teachers with clear information on the Ministry’s policies and to motivate them by showcasing their importance to improving public education. The programme reached more than 200,000 teachers and was positively received nationwide. Maria holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) and a professional title of Lawyer with the highest honours.
