Omar graduated from the American University in Cairo in 2016 with a Bachelor’s in Electronics and Communications Engineering. During his time as an undergraduate, he became very interested in artificial intelligence, pursuing a variety of projects independently, ranging from his graduation project, which was on autonomous driving and mapping, to a medical imaging project for improving the diagnosis of heart disease by automatically analysing MRI scans. He also worked as a teaching and research assistant for a year in the area of digital communications systems and signal processing.
Beyond academics, Omar loves playing all kinds of sports. In particular, he is a keen squash, table tennis and football player. He also plays guitar – both acoustic and electric.
