After obtaining a Bachelor’s in Mathematics from the University of Delhi, Simant was awarded a social leadership fellowship to work towards building the capacity of small farmers in India in indigenous beekeeping. He subsequently led a project in the high mountain desert of Ladakh to spread an Artificial Ice Reservoir technology for water conservation, where his efforts contributed to expanding the project across 15 villages in Ladakh as well as in other countries.
More recently, he worked with local governments in South Asia enabling them to use this knowledge for effective and inclusive climate policy development. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, he is running multiple campaigns with his fellowship network to raise funds for direct cash transfers to migrants and daily wage earners affected across India.
Simant is currently the Lead Associate of the Climate and Resilience Hub at WTW. He is working with the government of Antigua and Barbuda to prepare a sectoral adaptation plan, and is working with Pacific island countries to get access to disaster risk finance
