Siying is the Programme’s first scholar from China. She completed the MPhil in Economics.
She is currently Advisor at the Bank for International Settlements Innovation Hub, working on Central Bank Digital Currencies.
Prior to Oxford, Siying received a Double Majors Degree in Mathematics and Economics (with honours) from McGill University and was awarded with the Brian Coghlan Memorial Prize in Economics for graduating with the highest academic standing in her programme.
At McGill, Siying conducted research alongside professors and the editor-in-chief of the Canadian Journal of Statistics, where she utilized advanced econometric models to explore the economic returns of schooling. Outside of her studies, Siying helped international students to better integrate into the university community as Vice-President of one of Canada’s largest student-run organisations.
Through internships with multinational corporations such as IBM, Siying has had the opportunity to conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of the impacts of urbanization in China. She also won the Outstanding Volunteer Award for her volunteer work during the 2008 Beijing Olympic and Paralympics Games, presented by the former Chinese president.
Siying is currently working in Hong Kong.
