Farid is currently serving as the Minister of Justice of the Azerbaijan Republic. From 2023 to 2024 he served as a member, general speaker and bureau member of the UN Human Rights Committee but stepped down to take up his government appointment.

He previously served as a deputy minister and an adviser to the Minister of Digital Development and Transportation. He has Master’s degrees in International Human Rights Law from the University of Essex and in International Legal Studies from Baku State University. He also spent a number of years as a legal advisor to both the Parliament and the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan as a lecturer at the Faculty of International Law at Baku State University and as an Associate Professor of Law at the ADA University in Azerbaijan.
