Irene is a medical doctor from Uganda. She studied Medicine and Surgery at Makerere University. She has additional training in project management from the University of Washington. Irene is currently a Project Coordinator-Implementation Projects, at the Academy for Health Innovation in Uganda, under the Infectious Diseases Institute. Her work involves the coordination of mHealth interventions focusing on post-discharge follow-up of recovered COVID-19 patients, surveillance of those at risk of COVID-19, and automated treatment support of HIV & Tuberculosis patients. These innovations have supported over 6000 patients. Irene intends to transition into public service where she will provide technical and strategic assistance in digital health programme implementation while leading the design, implementation, and evaluation of international policies.
