Justin worked in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Law Enforcement and Intelligence Unit after which, he joined the Urban Institute’s Justice Policy Center as a Research Associate II.

While at Urban, his research focused on racial and ethnic disparities in the criminal justice system, human trafficking, gang intervention programs, and prisoner reentry. He moved to Austin, Texas, in 2014 and accepted a position with the Housing Authority of the City of Austin, where he won $5.3 million in funding from federal, state, local, private, and public resources in support of programs for residents of public housing.

In 2016, he co-founded Wordvine Consulting LLC, which provides consulting and grant writing services to non-profit organizations. Since inception, Wordvine has won over $3.9 million in funding for non-profit organizations and public housing authorities in the State of Texas.

Since graduating from Oxford, my focus has been on public policy and understanding the challenges faced by communities throughout the United States. In my professional career, I have strived to bridge the divide between researchers and those implementing programs designed to support at-risk populations.

I strongly believe that my experience at Oxford and WHT provided me with the tools needed to create impact in my community. While my coursework at Oxford honed my academic and research ability, the WHT was critical in fostering my confidence and further developing my leadership skills. Taken together, these two experiences have proved invaluable in my career.
