Funding: Oxford-Hoffmann
May Nguyen graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) from the Asian University for Women, including a semester at the University of Trento in Italy through a fully-funded Erasmus+ ICM Scholarship. May has over six years of work experience in Vietnam’s education sector. She also co-founded and ran a liberal arts project between 2019 and 2021 and started independent philosophy classes for Vietnamese students between 2023 and 2024. Her international academic experiences and professional background in a tech-driven educational world have given her hands-on experience with how digital tools can simultaneously address and amplify social, political, and educational challenges in Vietnam and the Global South.
During and after her time at Oxford, May aims to develop digitally inclusive design approaches for marginalised communities and leverage state-of-the-art technologies to decolonize educational practices in sensitive political contexts, where ‘neo-conformity’ is often mistaken for educational reform.
