Before pursuing his MSc in Computer Science at Oxford, Upamanyu completed his undergraduate degree in computer science engineering, in India. He was also a research assistant, working jointly with the departments of computer science and psychology at NTU, Singapore, and involved in activities such as teaching computer programming to underprivileged children and identifying methods to improve healthcare using technology.
He is currently working as a research assistant in the Translational Neuroscience and Dementia Research Group at the University of Oxford, using his skills in machine learning and artificial intelligence to identify potential genetic risk factors for neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's.
Moving forward, his aim is to pursue advanced research in the field of neuroscience and genomics with the focus of better understanding neurodegenerative diseases and mental health conditions and contributing to the amelioration of these conditions.
