Zamiya is Engagement Officer at Southern Voice in Nigeria - an open platform for think tanks and contributes to the global dialogue on the Sustainable Development Goals
Zamiyat is interested in the intersection between academia and in development and is passionate about applied communications and the opportunities it presents in social, political, and economic development within Nigeria and the global south; with special interest in gender equality, education, and conflict. Zamiyat has a BSc in Communications and Multimedia from the American University of Nigeria where her research focused on the Boko Haram crisis and opportunities for social activism through social media/internet for women in Nigeria and West Africa. As an undergraduate student Zamiyat created a social media campaign to counter religious extremism she also worked on social intervention projects for Boko Haram-affected communities for international NGOs.
