Nikki completed her DPhil in Economics at Oxford in 2015, having previously obtained an MPhil in Economics as a Weidenfeld Scholar. She holds a BSc in International Economics (2008) from Georgetown University and an MA in Intercultural Education (2009) from the Free University in Berlin as a Fulbright Scholar.
She is an Associate Professor at the University College London Social Research Institute where she teaches Economics of Public Policy and Economics of Developing Countries to undergraduates. Her own research focuses on gender and socioeconomic inequality in access to higher education and the labour market and has been funded at the Nuffield Foundation and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). Some of her research explores those who are 'first generation' or 'first in family' to attend university and the role of overconfidence in explaining gender inequality. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, The Guardian, Washington Post, Time Magazine, and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. Nikki is currently based in London, UK.
