Olena undertook an MSc in Russian and East European Studies as a Weidenfeld Scholar, graduating in 2009. Before coming to Oxford, she worked at the Forum for Young Ukrainian Leaders (FYUL) in Kyiv, first as an Education and Professional Development Project Coordinator, and later as Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation responsible for the implementation of projects, which was also run by the FYUL.

Currently, she is the Portfolio Manager at the UNSSC Knowledge Center for Sustainable Development in Bonn, Germany. Prior to this, she was the regional specialist for the UN.
