Onur was part of the inaugural cohort of Weidenfeld Scholars, graduating with an MPhil in Migration Studies in 2009. He later completed his doctorate also at the University of Oxford, in Anthropology in 2014. He currently works as a Lecturer in International Relations at the Social Sciences University of Ankara. His areas of expertise include international migration, integration of immigrants, migrant education policies, and diasporas and transnationalism.
Onur has written extensively on the issues of migration and migrant integration. One of his most recent publications, Turkey’s Syrians: Today and Tomorrow, is one of the pioneering academic books in English on the subject. His previous co-authored book, Little Turkey in Great Britain, is one of the most comprehensive reviews of Turkish-speaking migrant communities in the UK. He also has extensive experience in large-scale international and national research projects.
