Sarah Deardorff Miller was a Weidenfeld Scholar in 2008-2009, when she completed the MSc in Forced Migration and received distinction on her thesis. She went on to complete a DPhil in International Relations at Oxford, where she continued a focus on forced migration, looking specifically at UNHCR’s role in protracted refugee situations in East Africa. She recently published her dissertation with Routledge, and teaches on international relations and forced migration-related themes for Columbia University, American University and the University of London.
She has published various other articles and consults for organizations like UNHCR, Mercy Corps, and the International Rescue Committee, and think tanks like the Brookings Institution and Oxford’s Refugee Studies Centre. She has worked and researched in a range of countries, including Tanzania, Thailand, Jordan, Lebanon and the United States, and has also worked in refugee resettlement in the Chicago area. She also briefly worked with the State Department while living in the Washington, D.C. area.
Sarah is currently working as a Senior Fellow for Refugees International.
